Sharon Lewis Memorial Professional Development Fund for Part-Time Instructors
Sharon Lewis Memorial Professional Development Fund for Part-Time Instructors was created in honor of Sharon Lewis to fund professional development of Mt. Hood Community College part-time instructors. The appropriate funds can be awarded to the Part-Time Faculty and Tutor Association for group professional developmental or to an individual part-time instructor to further their professional development, or for materials or equipment desired by an instructor to enhance his or her quality of teaching.
Sharon Cach Lewis was a fifth grade teacher in the 70s at West Gresham Grade School. Before that, she taught at St. Charles School in northeast Portland. A longtime Gresham resident, Sharon was active in the MHCC District Foundation and a coordinator of the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival.
*Must submit application with comprehensive statement outlining the request and its benefit to instructor/MHCC students.
*Must have completed two terms as a part-time instructor at MHCC within the last two years.
*Must submit a letter of recommendation from the instructor’s dean, co-signed by the Vice-president of Instruction.
*Must agree to make themself available for employment at MHCC for three consecutive terms after the award has been given/completed.
